The project titled “Enhancing Demobilization, Reintegration and Reconciliation in North Karamoja, Uganda” addresses persistent insecurity, unresolved communal tensions, and the socioeconomic exclusion of demobilized Karachunas. It seeks to consolidate peace through two core components: demobilization and reconciliation anchored in youth-led dialogues, advocacy, and capacity building and socioeconomic reintegration through skilling, cooperative ventures, and agricultural support. The initiative directly targets 6 groups of Karachunas (240 individuals), equipping them with tools, livelihoods and capacity building trainings to act as positive agents of change. Implementation spans the territories of Kotido Catholic Diocese covering Kotido and Kaabong with a span across boarder intervention on peace consolidation in the districts of Abim, Karenga, Turkana and Acholi. Ultimately, the project prevents renewed conflict, fosters inclusive development, and advances long-term peace consolidation in North Karamoja.
