About Us
The Justice and Peace Department (JPD-K)
is one of the 7 Social Service Departments of Kotido Catholic Diocese, created in 2014 and located in the extreme Northeast of Uganda. JPD-K works in the sectors of peacebuilding, conflict transformation and environmental and land management. The JPD-K works on issues affecting Diocesan territories. These comprise the Districts of Abim, Kotido, Kaabong and Karenga. The Department also engages in cross-border interventions with neighbouring sub-regions (e.g. Acholi) and countries (e.g. Turkana in Kenya and Kapoeta in South Sudan).

Strategic Focus Areas
At JPD-K, we focus on creating sustainable solutions to the challenges facing Northern Karamoja. Our strategic interventions span the following areas:

People-Centered inclusive Justice and Peace
To promote conflict transformation and transitions rooted in justice, equity and inclusiveness focusing on the past, present and future.

Environmental and Land Management
To promote sustainable and regenerative livelihoods, communities that can count on and which must be rooted in climate-sensitive skilling and IGA development

Gender Equality and Empowerment
To promote a positive change of the patriarchal social norms characterizing the context of Northern Karamoja.
